The top single was Good Luck, Babe! By Chappell Roan.
“Good Luck, Babe!” By Chappell Roan came out April 5th, 2024 and spent two straight weeks at number 1 on the Billboards Top 100 this summer. Out of 88 St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes students, 47 voted that they loved “Good Luck, Babe!”. One student said “it was the summer for Chappell” and that she was “simply obsessed!” Chappell has been releasing music since 2014 when she released Die Young on Youtube. Then in 2017 she released her first EP and single. The same student explained that Chappell Roan, along with other artists this summer, “got their well-deserved break into the mainstream.”

The top Album was Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish
Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish came out May 17th, 2024 and was number two on the Billboard Top 200 as an album over all. Many of her songs hit the charts immediately including “Lunch” at number four, “Chihiro” at number one, and “Birds of a Feather” at number one on the Billboard global charts. One student wrote in all caps “Billie Eilish [had] the best album of the year!” When Amelie Lutz, a junior at SSSAS, was asked what her favorite album was this summer, she smiled confidently and said, “Billie, I mean come on.”

To Wrap up, it looks like our Saints had a summer mostly filled with upbeat pop and indie pop. Many people had strong opinions on this summer’s new music. One student expressed their excitement saying “2024 is an absolutely insane year for music and I am living.” Do you think the rest of 2024 will compare to this summer in terms of music? 2025, you’re going to have a tough act to follow, Good Luck, Babe!
