It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The first week of December is a joyous time for the 188 million Spotify users. This is the time that Spotify releases “Spotify Wrapped,” a slideshow of your top genres, songs, and artists. Spotify takes your listening data from January to October and compiles it into a slideshow. Once it comes out, stories on Snapchat and Instagram are filled with people’s top songs. 

Apple Music has also tried to copy Spotify but they can’t out do the doer. Apple Music’s wrap does not have all the features Spotify Wrapped does, like seeing your music mood. It’s also much harder to share compared to Spotify Wrapped.

A feature of Wrapped that is unique to Spotify is seeing what percentage a user is in of their top artist’s listeners. Some people are in the top 0.5% while others are in the top 0.01%. Spotify also shows you how many minutes you’ve listened. The numbers range from 5,000-500,000 minutes. That’s 3-347 days of listening to music.
