If you have seen a smiling new teacher in the halls, don’t be shy to say hi to our new faculty member, Mr. Colley! He is a new member of the Saint Stephen’s and Saint Agnes science department and is teaching physics and physical science this year. Before SSSAS, he worked at Indian Creek school in Crownsville, Maryland. He has 26 years of experience teaching all science classes and has enjoyed returning to Physics.
So far he’s especially enjoyed the flexible schedule and independence, something he didn’t have before. Overall, he has liked the warm welcoming community that SSSAS provides! Interestingly enough, he didn’t always want to become a teacher. When he first graduated from college, he majored in Biology and received his graduate degree in parasitology. He originally wanted to work for the National Institutes of Health.
At home, he has two Siamese cats named Gilbert and Sullivan, named by his wife who is a music major, after a few of her favorite composers. A fun fact about him is that he lived in five different states throughout his childhood, including an amusing Christmas in Hawaii.
Students have described him as a welcome addition to the school. Freshman Will Morrell said that “he makes learning a lot of fun and he’s very approachable.”
